It is a city located in Granada, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. All of it is a set of gardens, fortress and palaces. The fortress contained in its interior a citadel within the city of Granada. This citadel was the accommodation of the monarch and also served as a court.
The Alhambra rises on a hill so it is on a high point of the city. This had a defensive function and also meant power, as everyone saw it.

The Alhambra consists of different parts:
- Comares Palace: it is the main nucleus of the citadel and was the residence of the monarch.
- Arrayanes Palace.
- Lions Palace: In the center of the courtyard it is located the fountain of the lions and is surrounded by 124 marble columns.
- Nasrid palaces: also known as ‘old royal house’.
- Partal Palace: is the oldest one.
- Charles V Palace.
- The Alcazaba: is one of the oldest parts of the Alhambra.
- The medina: it has shops, public baths, etc.
- Real cemetery.
- Generalife palace: recreational house of the sultans of Granada.
